A Word from our Chaplain about Discussion Week

On my return to CCL at the end of August 2010 after almost a year away on sick leave, I felt that an overall theme was ‘Fresh Starts and New Beginnings’. With the Church Council, I wanted to review where we are as a church, to see together what is our mission, our core activities that help build the church community and what is important to us all.

In order to invite the Church to discuss and plan together for the future, we needed up-to-date data.

In October 2010, 63 households filled in the Diocesan Survey and 75 people answered the CCL questionnaire.

In November and part of December, the data was collated and analysed.

In January 2011, the Church Council was given a presentation by the analyst which included some key results.

The Church Council decided that we would:

• Discuss over a week in March

• Collate/ evaluate feedback in April

• Decide on our plans for the future in May by having a day away together (probably the 14th May) to pray and talk together as a PCC

• Commit ourselves as a whole church to the renewed vision for CCL in June

This ‘Discussion Week ‘is designed to give every church member a copy of the Diocesan survey results, the questionnaire key findings and to ask you to participate in a discussion on the key topics (see the poster, below). We are looking for your feedback (see coloured sheets, below) on the results of the questionnaire in order to build a picture of the way forward for CCL. We ask you to commit the discussion in prayer before you begin your reflection and keep in mind that we are looking for what is best for the whole church community as we are led by God’s Holy Spirit. Our task is to discern God’s leading and keep up!
