Our Congregation

Lille is a lively European university city with a growing international and cosmopolitan population. Christ Church is young in terms of outlook and growth with an interdenominational and multicultural congregation which seeks to welcome anyone who wishes to worship in English.

All our services and other activities are primarily in English, and we are the only congregation in the Lille area that exists to serve the English speaking community.

We welcome people from every part of the world, who wish to join us and to worship in English. During recent years, people from around 40 countries and from 6 continents have spent time with us. These include students who come to study at the many educational centres in Lille, and families where a parent works for one of the many multinational companies or international organisations with centres in and around Lille. Others are married to French people, and settled here but like to worship with us. Being a tourist spot, we welcome the many short term visitor visiting the attractions of Lille.

The church belongs to the Diocese in Europe, which is part of the world-wide Anglican communion and our patron is the Intercontinental Church Society, an evangelical mission of the Church of England, but our congregation is neither expected nor obliged to change their denominational allegiance to be a member of the church.
